Steel Mill Coffee Company’s journey begins in America’s Heartland.
The story starts with humble beginnings not as a roastery but as a single café located in Sterling, Il.
Like most American stories, the odds were heavily against us. With stiff big box competition and a saturated coffee market, the road to making a name for ourselves was going to be a hard one. We, however, were not swayed. We partnered with farmers around the world and people with over 30 years in the business. Our company took an approach of quality over quantity and process over profit.
One year later, over 100 coffee blends and flavors were created. The coffee shop out of Sterling Il became the most recognized in the region. The coffee, unmatched. Soon after, one café became more and a national-scale roastery was born.
Steel Mill Coffee Company was founded with the American spirit. The challenges were daunting. The personal sacrifices were great. To put it simply, there wasn’t a single moment that was “easy”. But, through perseverance, hard work, and innovation we were able to succeed.
